The Ethernet 10/100 Mbit AIM supports both 10 Mbit (10BaseT) and 100 Mbit IEEE 802.3 Ethernet.  For 10 Mbit there are two modes of operation:

• Mode SIM: Active Link Simulation (RX, TX)
• Mode MON: Passive Link Monitoring (RX)

For 100 Mbit there are also two modes of operation, but according to the electrical characteristics the link monitoring uses an active component inserted into the connection:

• Mode SIM: Active Link Simulation (RX, TX)
• Mode MON: Active Link Monitoring (RX)

The interface module supports auto-duplex mode and 10 Mbit/s auto-negotiation mode. The module also provides:

• Protocol processing for protocol stacks, triggers and filters
• Integrated line adaptation
